When I was a lad in school, my teachers asked me what I wanted to do with my life.<\/p>

\u201cI want to be a writer,\u201d I replied.<\/p>

\u201cThat\u2019s too precarious,\u201d came the reply. \u201cGet a profession.\u201d
Later, in my teens, my parents took me to vocational guidance testing (does that still exist?), where they asked me what I wanted to do with my life.
\u201cI want to be a writer,\u201d I replied.
\u201cYou\u2019re not suited to being a writer,\u201d they said. \u201cGet a trade.\u201d
Many years later, I told my psychotherapist I\u2019d got a brilliant idea for the book I\u2019d always wanted to write.
\u201cYou\u2019ll never get a publisher,\u201d she replied.
Gee, thanks for the encouragement guys!<\/p>

That\u2019s when I realised I was on my own, and only my sheer grit and determination, coupled with a workable strategy, would get me to where I wanted to be. If only I’d heard of life coaching back then I’d have gone and found a coach straight away!\u00a0One thing was abundantly clear: where I wanted to be\u00a0was as a writer.<\/p>

Bernard Malamud famously said, \u201cThere comes a time in a man’s life when to get where he has to go — if there are no doors or windows — he walks through a wall.\u201d\u00a0 Somehow, I knew deep inside that my time had come to walk through that wall! Shortly afterwards, my first book, The Five Pillars of Happiness, was born.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Small Beginnings<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I spent the first half of my allotted span learning how to transform my life and working on that. Now well into the second half, I\u2019m thoroughly enjoying that transformation, even though, like everything in life that’s worthwhile, it’s still work in progress. That\u2019s why everything I write has a common theme \u2013 how you can facilitate your own personal transformation, and why it\u2019s such a great thing to do.<\/p>

I always knew I had to write, no matter what my\u00a0teachers told me \u2013 it\u2019s the only thing I can excel at, and I\u2019m driven to do it. Fortunately, I love doing it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
